In celebration of its 15th Anniversary, Aula Simfonia Jakarta will embark more than 10,000 miles and proudly present Jakarta Simfonia Orchestra and Jakarta Oratorio Society to you. As the first and only classical concert hall in Indonesia, this symphony journey will showcase their finest musicians-in-residence, harmoniously performing the Dvořák’s New World Symphony, iconic Indonesian songs, and selections of the greatest oratorio choruses.

Stephen Tong is a pioneer in Indonesian classical music society. In 1985, Stephen led a seven cities concert rally for the commemoration of the 300th anniversary of JS Bach and GF Händel, attended by 27,000 people. He later founded Jakarta Oratorio Society in 1986, which annually performs concerts in Jakarta, performing great oratorio works. In December 2008, Stephen took Jakarta by storm when 9,000 people attended the two performances of Handel’s complete Messiah choruses.

Aula Simfonia Jakarta (ASJ) was established by Stephen Tong to create a dedicated home for classical music and musicians in Indonesia, fulfilling a long-awaited need for such a venue. Inaugurated in 2009, ASJ has become a beloved destination for classical music enthusiasts, showcasing the Jakarta Simfonia Orchestra and the Jakarta Oratorio Society as its resident ensembles. Since opening its doors, Aula Simfonia Jakarta has distinguished itself as the only venue in Indonesia that hosts monthly concerts, providing a platform for both Indonesian musicians and international artists.

Jakarta Simfonia Orchestra (JSO) was established to fill the demand for classical concerts in the greater Jakarta Metropolitan area. As the orchestra-in-residence at Aula Simfonia Jakarta (ASJ), it is the first and only professional orchestra that performs monthly. JSO presents an estimated 15-20 concerts each year, showcasing a diverse repertoire that spans from the Baroque era to the 21st century.

The singers of the Jakarta Oratorio Society (JOS) are exceptionally well-trained, undergoing a rigorous training regimen designed to equip them with the skills necessary to meet the demands of their diverse repertoire. Their training includes weekly rehearsals, vocal technique knowledge and performance practice, allowing them to master complex pieces from various musical eras. This dedication to excellence ensures that they can deliver high-quality performances that resonate with audiences, showcasing their commitment to the art of choral music.

Praise Yah!
Praise God in His sanctuary;
Praise Him in His mighty expanse.
Praise Him for His mighty deeds;
Praise Him according to the abundance of His greatness.
Praise Him with trumpet blast;
Praise Him with harp and lyre.
Praise Him with tambourine and dancing;
Praise Him with stringed instruments and pipe.
Praise Him with resounding cymbals;
Praise Him with clashing cymbals.
Let everything that has breath praise Yah.
Praise Yah!
